Following Sean Bowen

For a jockey, few achievements are as prestigious as claiming the title of Champion Jockey. It’s a feat that requires not only exceptional skill and talent but extreme dedication and perseverance. Sean Bowen, a rising star, ticks all the boxes required to become Champion, but he will need a little bit of luck to help him across the line in front.

Equine Productions and Coral have embarked on a unique venture to chronicle Bowen’s journey through a suite of compelling video content captured over the course of the 2023-24 jumps season. Coral’s series offers viewers an intimate glimpse into Bowen’s life, showcasing the highs, lows, and everything in between as he navigates the demanding challenge of trying to become champion jockey for the first time in his career.

Sean Bowen’s journey into the world of horse racing began at a young age, shaped by his family’s deep connections to the sport. Born into a racing family, including his father Peter Bowen, a highly respected trainer, Sean’s affinity for horses was nurtured from the moment he could walk. As he grew, so too did his love for the thrill of the racetrack, and it wasn’t long before he decided to pursue a career as a jockey.

With steely determination and a natural talent for riding, Sean Bowen quickly made a name for himself in the competitive world of horse racing. His early successes caught the attention of trainers and owners alike. Bowen became the youngest jockey to be crowned Champion Conditional, his rise through the ranks was marked by a relentless work ethic and an unwavering commitment to his craft, traits that would serve him well as he now set his sights on the top spot.

The series, initiated in November 2023, offers a captivating look into Sean Bowen’s journey, providing viewers with an insider’s perspective on the trials and triumphs of a champion jockey hopeful. From behind-the-scenes footage to exclusive interviews, the series provides an intimate glimpse into Bowen’s day to day world.

The content employed a traditional documentary format in its inaugural 11-minute episode. As we leap into 2024, we initiate a transformative shift — a more minimalistic approach featuring concise 2-3 minute videos, with fast turnarounds, meaning Coral’s audience can witness events within hours of them happening, as opposed to days or weeks. A format akin to content utilised in other sports, where new stories are unfolding on a daily basis. Particularly important in this instance, where Sean’s position on the leaderboard can potentially change multiple times over the course of a week. As well as this, the content is formatted specifically for different uses on Coral’s various channels, such as YouTube, Instagram Reels and X, ensuring that Coral can meet all of the individual niche’s of their audience base.

In this series, we’re not just telling a story; we’re living it. The 2024 content captures the essence of Bowen’s daily grind. The odyssey continues, with new episodes unfolding until the climactic end of the jockeys championship on April 27th (the grand finale slated for release on either the 27th or 28th). Brace yourselves for the upcoming releases, offering an intimate look at Sean Bowen’s journey through the hallowed grounds of the Cheltenham Festival in the second week of March.

This is more than a documentary; it’s an immersive experience, meticulously curated by Equine Productions and presented in collaboration with Coral. Together we are passionate about getting sports fans as close to the action as possible.
